The Bible cannot be the only guide to salvation?

[ad_1]

Some preachers, especially the authorities of the Roman Catholic Church, insist that the Bible cannot be the only guide to salvation because, according to them, it does not contain all the truth needed for eternal salvation, just as it is written on the book. , “My Catholic Faith” by Pastor Louis LaRavoire Morrow:

The Bible may not be the only guide to salvation …

3. The Bible does not contain all the truth needed for eternal salvation (My Catholic Faith, p. 123)

According to them, the truth about Christ written in the Bible is not complete and that they do not learn the whole Christ from the Bible as it was written in the book, “The Spirit of Catholism”:

… I learn the complete Christ, not from the Bible. (The Spirit of Catholism, p. 57)

However, we cannot just accept this doctrine without examining it. And if we just read their statements about the Bible without examining the Bible, we will end up believing them. We should not forget that we are commanded not to believe anyone’s teachings right away, but we must first test them if they are of God:

Dear friends, do not believe in every spirit, but try the spirits to see if they come from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. (In John 4: 1, NIV)

How can we know that their teachings came from God?

Reach. It’s just easy to know. We already know that God’s Word is written on the Holy Bible, and therefore the teachings that contradict the Holy Bible are not from God, and that the doctrine that runs parallel to the truth written on the Bible is God’s teaching.

Now let’s ask Holy Bible: Is it true that the Bible cannot be the only guide to salvation? Apostle Paul replied:

15 And from childhood you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise to salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. (II Timothy 3:15 NKJV)

According to the Apostle Paul, the Holy Scriptures, or we call it the Bible, can make us wise for salvation. In other words, the Bible can lead us to salvation. But how could the Bible lead us to salvation? From this verse, Apostle Paul said that it is through our faith in Christ.

But they said the Holy Bible does not contain the full truth about Christ. So how can we believe in Christ if we do not know who he is and what he is?

It is true that Christ did many things and many of these things were not written down because, according to Apostle John, “if every one of them were written down, … even the whole world would not have room for the books that would is written. ”(John 21:25, ibid.) But are the things recorded in the Holy Bible enough for us to believe in Christ and obtain salvation? Apostle John said:

30 Jesus did many other miraculous signs in the presence of his disciples, which are not recorded in this book. 31 But these are written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you can have life in His name. (John 20:30, ibid)

Yes. Apostle John’s answer is clear that the things recorded in the Holy Bible are enough for us to believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that through faith we will receive the promised salvation.

Therefore, Apostle Paul taught the members of the true Christ Church not to go beyond what is written.

6 Now, brethren, I have applied these things to myself and Apollos to your advantage, so that you may learn from us the meaning of the saying, “Do not go beyond what is written.” Then you will not be proud of one man towards another. (In Corinthians 4: 6, ibid)

And they are reminded not to add anything or remove words from what is written and those who add or remove words from what is recorded receive punishment from God.

18I warn everyone who hears the words of this book’s prophecy: If anyone adds something to them, God will add to them the plagues described in this book. 19 And if anyone removes words from this book of prophecy, God will remove his portion of the tree of life and into the holy city described in this book. (Revelation 22: 18-19, ibid)

Therefore, it is not true that the Bible cannot be the only guide to salvation because the Bible can make us wise to salvation. It is also not true that the Bible does not contain the full truth about Christ, because what is written on the Bible is enough for us to believe in Christ and be saved through our faith in him.

So if you want to be saved on Judgment Day, believe in the truth recorded in the Bible, just like what the members of the true Church of Christ did.
